Vilarnau Brut Reserva NV has won a coveted gold medal at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships.
The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2017 attracted entries from more countries than ever before: 29 in total, including for the first time the Czech Republic, Luxembourg and Romania.
According to the organisers, the key USP of the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships is that all wines entered are tasted and evaluated by the same specialist sparkling wine judges, year in and year out, who must agree on all the medals awarded.
This is the third year running that this wine has won gold in this prestigious competition. In 2016 the Vilarnau Brut Reserva NV also achieved Best in Class, results for which this year, will be announced in September 2017.
Commenting on the medal, Damià Deàs, winemaker said, “This competition is important to us as it represents the global benchmark in the sparkling wine category. Winning a gold puts us up there amongst the best in the world and we are delighted.”
