For the 5th time, Sakura Women’s Wine Award took place ending of January 2018 in Japan.
This year the jury awarded Vilarnau Brut Reserva with a gold medal for its exceptional quality.
The Sakura Awards are judged solely by female wine experts active in the Japanese market and is aimed at providing a quality standard for women making the wine purchasing decision in-store. The competition has clearly defined objectives, wanting to speak directly to Japanese women who are increasingly interested in enjoying and learning about quality wines available in the market.
The competition has created a number of special awards with particular emphasis on food and wine matching which the organisers see as being of special appeal to today’s professional women. The competition aims to be “an international wine competition, held in Japan that stimulates the wine market and offers wine information to fit the Japanese population’s preference and to activate the domestic wine market.”
